​Sunrise Community Empowerment was launched in 2018 by the late Senior Pastor J.E. Storey of Sunrise Baptist Church and Senior Pastor Jimmy L. Berdin Jr. of Sunrise Community Empowerment Church. The organization was founded on the belief that meaningful and lasting change in the community can be achieved through intentional programming, comprehensive support, and education.

Our vision is to provide at-risk youth with a safe, supervised environment where they can grow academically, develop creative talents through the performing arts, and acquire essential life skills. Our programs emphasize financial literacy, social development, conflict resolution, anti-bullying education, mentorship, and entrepreneurship. Each program is designed to equip youth and community members with practical, real-life skills that promote self-sufficiency, leadership, and long-term success.
