Keepers of the Village – North Lawndale is a community-based mentorship program that supports at-risk youth by expanding their exposure beyond their immediate surroundings. The program delivers structured cultural, educational, and enrichment experiences that build confidence, strengthen social skills, and broaden perspectives.
Since its inception, the program has served more than 300 youth, providing access to live performances, cultural institutions, and professional sporting events, including Major League Baseball and WNBA games. For many participants, these experiences represent their first opportunity to engage beyond their neighborhood, offering critical experiential learning.
Participants demonstrate measurable growth in communication skills, cultural awareness, and positive social engagement, resulting in reduced social isolation and increased openness to new opportunities.
